About the Congress

The first edition of the Eastern Economic Congress in 2014 has demonstrated how strong the need for a debate on the future of the eastern macro-region of Poland is for us today.

The Congress has proved a very successful undertaking, which has been confirmed by the attendance of prominent Guests and the acclaim of its Participants, but first of all, by a set of interesting conclusions and recommendations.

The event received widespread and positive media coverage of considerable importance to the promotion of investment attractiveness of the eastern regions of Poland. As the organisers, we have gained competence and experience which are unique in Poland.

The results of the first Congress, as well as the changes taking place around us, the dynamics of the political arena, and the new factors shaping the situation in the economy – all this motivates us and our Partners to make a concerted effort to organise the 2nd Eastern Economic Congress which will take place on 24–25 September 2015 in Białystok.

We consistently impart two mutually complementary meanings to the Eastern subject matter: On the one hand, the heading of “the East” means Eastern Poland to us, together with is specific character, problems and development potential, but on the other, it also means political and economic relations between the European Union, Poland and Eastern Europe.

Within the proposed subject area of this year’s Congress, we focus on the topics of crucial importance to the future and the economic development of Eastern Poland, while not overlooking any important fields. Given such an assumption, the subject area of the Congress has to be broad.
Not only does the agenda of the 2nd Eastern Economic Congress include the subject matter of geopolitical conditions determining the state of and prospects for the economy in the east of Europe, or the issues of security, as well as international and cross-border cooperation, and the significance of large-scale infrastructure investments, but it also involves detailed analyses of the important areas of the economy, such as the energy industry, the agri-food market, medical services, retail trade, tourism, and the hotel industry.

We expect that the 2nd Eastern Economic Congress in Białystok will be attended by over a thousand Guests, including regional, Polish and European politicians, leaders of economic life, representatives of Polish and foreign enterprises, experts, and scientists.
