Eastern Economic Congress – Leaders of Tomorrow

Nearly 300 students from more than ten local schools, several dozen volunteers, four presentations, four different stories, many business ideas and a number of inspiring conversations – this was the tally from the first edition of the EEC – Leaders of Tomorrow, which took place last year in Białystok.

Encouraged by the enthusiastic reception from schools and, more importantly, from students, we decided to continue the project during the 3rd Eastern Economic Congress. The event is targeted at Białystok’s upper secondary school students and its main objective is to disseminate knowledge about entrepreneurship and the economy among young people by offering them the opportunity to meet and talk with actual business practitioners.

Having organized some of the largest business events in Poland, such as, most notably, the Eastern Economic Congress in Białystok and the European Economic Congress in Katowice, we are well aware of the dynamic development of the market, understand the determinants that affect it, and recognize the needs of a growing and increasingly demanding society. We realize how easily the market absorbs all forms of innovation, innovative and out-of-the-box practices. The mainspring of these endeavours are young people, who enter the world of large business with heads full of ideas and, more often than not, typical youthful audacity.

By including students in the Eastern Economic Congress, we wish to show that they, too, can become entrepreneurs with tangible influence on the future shape of their city, region, country and the world at large. By doing so, we highlight the need to expand business education opportunities for young people and to educate the leaders of tomorrow, set to become a new voice in public debate and the new mainspring of the economy.

In 2015, participants met both young, locally involved entrepreneurs and representatives of “mature” business. The event was attended by, to name but a few, Emilia Andrzejewska (Baristacja), Adam Ławicki (White Hill), Maciej Szumski (PLUM) and Adam Zdanowicz (MAD Bicycles). This year, we will present more entrepreneurs whose stories can be a source of inspiration for young people.
